The Ministry of Culture is working on creating new science centers and museums across India through the Scheme for Promotion of Culture of Science (SPoCS). The National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), which operates independently under the Ministry of Culture, is responsible for implementing and developing Science Centers, Cities, Museums, and Innovation Hubs under this scheme.
Over the past four years, new science museums have been established in various states, and the details, including the state-wise and year-wise information, can be found in the attached Annexure.
All Science Centers are open to the public, including school and college students. Additionally, NCSM Science Centers regularly host various annual programs specifically designed for students, such as Science Fairs, Seminars, Science Dramas, Demonstration Lectures, and Traveling Science Exhibitions.
Furthermore, all Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) site museums are accessible to the general public. On special occasions, local school students are invited to participate in cultural events, competitions, heritage walks, and more. Importantly, students under the age of 15 can enter the museums for free.
