Lal Krishna Advani Political Career : Advani joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1941 as a 14-year-old boy. Advani became a member of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and Later appointed as General Secretary of the Jana Sangh in Rajasthan. 1967 elections, he was elected as the Chairman of the First Delhi Metropolitan Council till 1970. In 1970 ,He became a member of the Rajya Sabha from Delhi . he became Jana Sangh President in 1973. He was a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat from 1976 to 1982. During Indira Gandhi’s Emergency , the Jana Sangh Party merged to Janata Party. Then Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee fought the Lok Sabha Elections of 1977 as a members of Janata Party. Morarji Desai became the Prime Minister of India, Advani became the Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Vajpayee became the Foreign Minister. Later Jana Sangh quit the Janata Party and formed new Party Bharatiya Janata Party In 1980 and Atal Bihari Vajpayee appointed as First President Of BJP. Later Advani represented the party in the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh for two terms beginning in 1982.
