The Christmas story is the narrative of the birth of Jesus Christ, as told in the Christian Bible. According to the Bible, Jesus was born in Bethlehem to Mary, a virgin who was engaged to be married to Joseph, a carpenter. The story of Jesus’ birth is told in the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke in the New Testament.
According to the Gospel of Luke, an angel named Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that she would give birth to a son who would be the Son of God. Around the time of Jesus’ birth, a decree went out from the Roman emperor Augustus that all the world should be taxed. Joseph and Mary had to travel to Bethlehem, the city of David, to register for the census. When they arrived in Bethlehem, there was no room for them at the inn, so they had to stay in a stable, where Jesus was born.
The birth of Jesus was announced to local shepherds by an angel, and they came to the stable to see the newborn baby. The shepherds returned to their fields, glorifying and praising God for all they had seen and heard.
The Christmas story is an important part of the Christian faith and is celebrated by Christians around the world on December 25th, known as Christmas Day. It is a time for remembering the birth of Jesus and celebrating his life and teachings.
