The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) has defined A “White Christmas” as a snow depth of at least one inch observed on December 25th. This means that it must either snow one inch on Christmas or 1 inch of snow from the previous day must still be on the ground.

It is also the title of a popular holiday song written by Irving Berlin and first performed by Bing Crosby in the 1942 film “Holiday Inn.” The song describes the singer’s longing for a white Christmas, with snow falling on the ground and everything looking “like a picture post card.” The song has been covered by many artists and has been featured in numerous films and television shows. It is one of the best-selling singles of all time, and continues to be a popular holiday song around the world.
