In Vadodara, a West Zone Defence Industry Meet with the theme ‘Quality Equipment in Time‘ was organized by the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, on December 14, 2023.
The event aimed to inform various stakeholders about new initiatives by the Ministry of Defence to streamline Defence production and Quality Assurance processes. These initiatives align with the Government of India’s vision of ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and ‘Make in India’ in the Defence manufacturing sector.
Sh. T Natarajan, Additional Secretary (Defence Production), addressed the meet, presided over by Director General, DGQA Lt Gen RS Reen. Natarajan highlighted reforms such as the ‘Green Channel’ and ‘Self Certification’ schemes, providing more autonomy to Defence manufacturers. He mentioned that initiatives like ‘Remote QA Inspection,’ Defence Export Promotion Scheme, and Defence Testing and Infrastructure Scheme aim to boost indigenous production and ensure swift delivery of critical defence equipment by Indian manufacturers.
During the event, L&T, Mumbai, was awarded the Green Channel certification. Representatives from Defence Industries, along with senior officers from the Naval QA organization and the Indian Army in Vadodara, participated. A compilation of technical papers on Quality Assurance was also released during the meet.
