In the Khelo India Para Games powerlifting competition in New Delhi, Kasthuri Rajamani from Tamil Nadu secured a gold medal in the elite 67kg category. She lifted an impressive 100 kg in her third attempt, outperforming silver medallist Parul Gohil of Gujarat (64 kg) and bronze medallist Sumandeep from Punjab (57 kg).
In the elite 73 kg category, Reshma Mogil from Gujarat claimed gold with a lift of 72 kg. Sahista from Delhi won silver (58 kg), and Maya from Rajasthan took home the bronze medal (57 kg).
The 80 kg section witnessed Punjab’s Gursewak Singh dominating with a gold medal, lifting increasingly heavier weights: 162kg, 166 kg, and finally 171 kg. Abdul Salam from Kerala won silver with 155kg, while Delhi’s Honey Dabas secured the bronze with a best effort of 152kg.
In the elite 88kg section, Karnataka’s Sandesha BG won gold with an outstanding effort of 171kg. Delhi’s Jagmohan claimed silver with 145kg, and Divyesh Ladani of Gujarat took the bronze with a best effort of 140kg.
In shooting, Manish Narwal continued his successful streak by winning a gold medal in Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 at Khelo India Para Games 2023. Despite a childhood hand infirmity, Manish achieved a total score of 240.2, surpassing his previous gold-medal-winning score. Rudransh Khandelwal claimed the silver medal.
In para table tennis, Bhavina Patel from Gujarat, a silver medallist in the 2020 Paralympics, secured a 3-0 victory against Shamim Chawda in the women’s Class-4 category. Sonal Patel, a bronze medallist at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, defeated Fatima Beevi from Tamil Nadu 3-0 in the women’s Class 1–3 category.
