  • Recently, on 29 October 2022, the 98th birth anniversary of Kartik Oraon was celebrated. 

  • Karthik Oraon was born on 29 October 1924 in Litatoli village of Gumla district ,Jharkhand.

  • He was born in Kurukh Tribe community

  • In 1959, Karthik Oraon gave the draft of the world’s largest automatic power station “Hinckley Nuclear Power Plant” to the British Government.

  • Karthik Oraon was the first man who started ,movement to save the tribals from looting their land.

  • Karthik Oraon returned to india in May 1961 after living abroad for 9 years.

  • He died on 8 December 1981.

Kartik Oraon Career : 

  • He was on the post of Superintendent Construction Designer in HEC, Ranchi.

  • He became an MP three times and an MLA once.

  • At the behest of Jawaharlal Nehru, in the year 1962, he participated in the Lok Sabha elections from Congress party in 1962 from Lohardaga parliamentary constituency, but lost the election.

  • He became an MP from Lohardaga in the 1967, 1971 and 1980 Lok Sabha elections.

  • He become minister for aviation and communication of Government of India.

  • After losing the Lok Sabha elections in 1977, he won the elections from Bishunpur Vidhan Sabha in 1977.
