International Women’s Day is a global event celebrated annually on March 8th to recognize and celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also a day to raise awareness about gender inequality and advocate for women’s rights and gender parity.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is #EmbraceEquity, and the overarching theme for the decade (2020-2030) is “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.” This theme highlights the need to address the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women and promote women’s leadership and participation in decision-making at all levels.

International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900s, with the first official event held in 1911. Today, it is celebrated in many countries around the world with various events and activities, including marches, rallies, conferences, art exhibitions, and more.
