What is Carcinoma and its Types

Carcinoma is a type of cancer that begins in the cells that make up the skin or the tissues that line the internal organs. Carcinomas are the most common type of cancer and account for the majority of all cancer cases.

There are several types of carcinoma, including:

Squamous cell carcinoma: This type of carcinoma arises from the cells that line the surface of the skin or the inside of the body’s organs.

Basal cell carcinoma: This is the most common type of skin cancer and arises from the cells in the lower layer of the skin.

Adenocarcinoma: This type of carcinoma arises from glandular cells and can occur in various organs such as the lung, breast, and prostate.

Transitional cell carcinoma: This type of carcinoma arises from the cells that line the bladder, ureters, and part of the kidney.

Carcinomas can spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body if not detected and treated in the early stages. It is important to be aware of the signs and symptoms of carcinoma and to see a healthcare provider if you notice any unusual changes in your body.
