Purnima Singh’s grandfather was an IPS officer and she spent his childhood with him.
Since his grandfather was an IPS officer, due to his frequent transfer during this period, Purnima Singh has studied from about 12 different schools for his schooling.
After this ,she shifted permanently to Lucknow and from Lucknow, she completed his graduation and Post Graduate from Advertising and Marketing Amity University, Noida Gautam Budha Nagar (UP) in 2009 .
Before marriage, she was working in Delhi.
She wanted to become an IAS officer before becoming an MLA.
Her husband Neeraj Singh’s Mudered accused “Neeraj Singh’s cousin Sanjeev Singh ” was a former BJP MLA. Presently Sanjeev Singh is lodged in jail.
Purnima Neeraj Singh from Congress Party contested for Jharia assembly seat of Dhanbad in the 2019 assembly elections and defeated Ragini Singh, wife of Sanjeev Singh.

On the evening of March 21, 2017, when Neeraj Singh was going home in his car, his car was surrounded by criminals riding a bike and shot with bullets, in which Neeraj Singh died.
Purnima Singh decided to enter politics after her husband Neeraj Singh was murdered.
