India, as the head of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), successfully hosted the GPAI Summit in New Delhi at the Bharat Mandapam from December 12 to 14, 2023. The event brought together global AI experts from GPAI, international organizations, industry/startups, and academia.
Around 30 sessions took place during the three days, with some being private meetings for GPAI delegates and experts, while others were public and live-streamed for a broader audience. The summit attracted over 22,000 attendees, with more than 15,000 AI enthusiasts participating virtually.
The GPAI summit kicked off on December 12, 2023, with India’s Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, leading the inauguration. He was joined by key figures including Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union MoS Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, outgoing GPAI chair Mr. Hiroshi Yoshida, and Secretary Shri S Krishnan from the Ministry of Electronics and IT.
The event welcomed delegates from 29 member countries and international organizations like OECD, UNESCO, ISO, WEF, World Bank, UNDP, and the Commonwealth. Attendees included GPAI experts, industry and startup leaders, AI professionals, academics, students, and officials from both Central and State Governments.
